Each and every year, visitors arrive at the well liked resort of Sharm el Sheikh from United Kingdom. They come to unwind by the beach or pool. Some want to scuba dive and other spend hours snorkelling on local coral reefs. There are ample trips on offer to tourists to Sharm el Sheikh and among the more well known ones is a day trip to Egypt’s capital, Cairo.
Cairo is home to the world renowned Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx but the day excursions to Cairo provide considerably more than merely these historical monuments. From Sharm, visitors can either get to Cairo by road or air. Either way, its an early morning start with road tours leaving at about 2am and flights at approximately 5am. It makes for a long day ahead but it is definitely worth the effort.
Itineraries can vary on trip to trip but in general gets going with a tour to the Cairo Museum or to give it’s proper title “The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo”. A lot of the morning is spent at the Cairo Museum and it is packed with some fantastic pieces. A few of the more superb treasures are those found in the tomb of the boy Pharaoh Tutankhamen including the popular gold and blue death mask. There are also quite a few items of furniture and ornaments and one thing that is obvious is how well the colours are preserved in a few of the pieces considering they are 1000’s of years old. Of course there is far too much to explore in the museum which means visitors have to choose the areas they want to view.
From the museum, the group is taken down to the Nile for lunch aboard a river boat. There is a good variety of food and for entertainment there are also dancers. Alternatively, you’re able to watch the skyline dotted with various Cairo hotels and other landmarks pass by as you sail up and back to your departure point.
The next item on the itinerary are the Pyramids of Giza. Looking at plenty of photos, you might be forgiven for thinking that they are in the midst of the desert but that isn’t the way it is. The Pyramids and Sphinx are just on the edge of Cairo. It is extremely hard not to be fascinated the minute you get close up to the Great Pyramid on account of the actual size of the it. You’ll be able to have plenty of time here to wander round the Pyramids and there are no shortage of local people attempting to sell you a large array of mementos or rides on their camels. There are lots of opportunities for pics prior to the tour bus drives you a bit further down to the Sphinx. Once again, you will be offered the chance to purchase all sorts of souvenirs and there are further picture opportunities. Yet, the Sphinx has not worn nearly as well as the Pyramids thus you can not get as near to it. It is late afternoon as the excursion leaves Cairo’s most well-known tourist places but there continues to be time for a few further stops.
The first of these visits is at a fragrance shop where your are asked to try a few of the quite a few perfumes the shop stocks. From here the tour coach starts off to travel back to the airport with one final stop on the way. Papyrus is the paper like material produced by the historic Egyptians from the pith of the Papyrus reed. It was used to write on but today, it is a widespread tourist souvenir, almost always with images of historic Egyptian gods and similar images. At the Papyrus shop, there is a wide range of Papyrus available and tourists can also see a display of how modern day Papyrus is made.
The tour coach leaves and the tour party to Cairo is over. The excursion now heads back to the airport for the flight back to Sharm el Sheikh or the road journey. The day trips to Cairo from Sharm are quite exhausting but are good value. For holiday makers staying in Sharm, it is a terrific way to observe some of the places of Cairo without actually staying there.

If you’re making a call to spend your holiday in Egypt, typically you’ve got a choice of two sea resorts – Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh. both are popular, but Hurghada is situated in African continent while Sharm El Sheikh lies on Sinai peninsula.
About 30 years gone Hurghada was just a simple fishing town. But now, with it’s a resort with crystal clear water, untouched reefs. It has become one of the best Egyptian tourist destinations. A significant part of its celebrity Hurghada gained as one of the finest diving centers of the planet. Like all oriental towns Hurghada make living out of trade, so if when you walk along the city, be in a position to beat off the pressing offers of the sellers, deserving to make you purchase their souvenirs. There are some more entertainments except shopping and diving in Hurghada. You can make a jeep trip to a desert, visit Bedouin’s village there ; you can see corals and some natural preserves. Hurghada is also has aqua-park. Fishing is one of the popular visitor’s activities in Hurghada too. Today, Hurghada is understood as a party town, particularly among europeans. Locals and others will tell you that life starts at night in Hurghada, with the many clubs. The best time to visit Hurghada is October-November. In winter there are robust winds and it becomes dark very early.
when you’re in Hurghada don’t miss the opportunity to see one of the most outstanding monuments of Egypt history – Luxor and the Valley of the King. Pharaoh’s tombs and traditional temples are worth visiting.
Sharm el-Sheikh is one of the most accessible and developed tourist resort communities on the Sinai promontory. All around are Bedouins, colorful tents, mountains and sea. Na’ama Beach is one of the middle of the tourist activities. Located just north of Sharm, this area is developing into a resort city of its own. For those that like shopping, the Sharm El-Sheikh mall provides shops with both foreign and local products, including jewellery, leather products, clothing, pottery and books. No-one leaves Sharm el-Sheikh without several useless but terribly nice mementos. Like Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh is known for diving too, but it has more diversity in corals.
Those, who choose Sharm el-Sheikh also has chance to watch the attraction of Sinai promontory – The priory of St Catherine, Mount Sinai ( or Mountain of Moses ), Pharaoh’s Island and Salah El Din castle, Nabq state Park, Ras Abu Galum state Park and so -called ‘Coloured canyon’.
